Ukraine, Denmark to sign memorandum on broader wind energy partnership

MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko and Danish Climate and Energy Minister Lars Aagaard have agreed to sign a memorandum on broader wind energy partnership during a virtual meeting.

"The sides noted the efficiency of bilateral cooperation in Ukrainian-Danish energy partnership and agreed to sign a memorandum for broadening wind energy partnership," the Ukrainian media said on Friday, citing the Energy Ministry.

Galushchenko thanked Denmark for assisting the energy sector of Ukraine with the humanitarian delivery of over 5.7 tonnes of equipment and a 538,000-euro contribution to the fund supporting the Ukrainian energy sector.

"We need investments and affordable funding of green energy projects: wind and solar energy, hydrogen, and electricity and biomass storages. Denmark has a huge expert potential in the field of distributed generation of renewable energy," he said.

In his words, Denmark's assistance in the evaluation of wind energy capacities of Ukraine and support for the development of laws on maritime wind power generation could serve as a weighty input in Ukraine's recovery.

In turn, Aagaard pledged further support of Denmark for Ukraine and its people and assistance in the reconstruction and decentralization of the Ukrainian energy sector.
