Ukrainian govt suggests that Verkhovna Rada denounce commercial shipping agreement with Syria

MOSCOW. March 10 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government has proposed that the Verkhovna Rada denounce the intergovernmental agreement with Syria on commercial shipping.

A respective bill was registered at the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday, the Ukrainian media said with the reference to the parliament website.

An explanatory note to the bill says that the breaking off diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Syria, Syria's recognition of the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics, and Syria's support for the Russian military and political administration are the reasons for terminating this agreement.

The governments of Ukraine and Syria signed the commercial shipping agreement in Kiev on June 5, 2003. The agreement was ratified on February 18, 2004.
