Georgian parliament formally revokes foreign agent bill

TBILISI. March 10 (Interfax) - The Georgian parliament voted down the foreign agent bill at a plenary meeting on Friday, thus formally revoking this document.

The meeting was held within minutes, and no comment was made.

Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream ruling party, told journalists that the bill processing had done some good.

"Everyone acknowledged that it's a lost cause to be an agent, no matter whose agent you are. Everyone also realized that a number of organizations are involved in anti-governmental activity. The third message of this bill is that everyone has learned how the United National Movement opposition party tried to regain power with the assistance of non-governmental organizations," Kobakhidze said.

He thanked all deputies who voted for the foreign agent bill in the first reading.
