Ruscon expands multimodal route between Russia, India by entering Saudi Arabia

KRASNODAR. March 9 (Interfax) - Russian multimodal transport operator Ruscon (an asset of Sergei Shishkarev's Delo Group and Rosatom state corporation) has expanded the geography of its container cargo delivery service between Russia and India through Novorossiysk by adding the port Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to its destination list.

According to the operator's report, the number of vessels registered on the sea shoulder has increased from one to four, which also helped increase the regularity of deliveries from one to four per month.

According to the report, the regular multi-modular service between India and Russia has operated since July 2022, ensuring cargo transportation in containers from any point in Russia through Delo Group terminals in Novorossiysk to the Indian ports of Mundra and Nhava Sheva. The rotation of the service also includes port in Istanbul, Turkey. The transit time from Novorossiysk to Istanbul is two days, to Jeddah is 14 days, to the ports of Mundra and Nhava Sheva is 22 and 24 days, respectively.

According to Ruscon head Sergei Berezkin, who was quoted in the press release, the increase in the number of vessels on the route will reduce the cost of storage in the ports of loading and will increase transportation volumes.

"The addition of the Jeddah port will open up new opportunities for senders interested in deliveries to and from Saudi Arabia, which is one of the key states of the region," Berezkin said.
