Aeroflot receives aircraft designer certificate

MOSCOW. March 9 (Interfax) - Aeroflot received the FAP-21J Aircraft Designer Certificate, which allows the company to develop modifications and non-standard repairs for aircraft and their components.

This gives Aeroflot the right to develop documentation for non-standard aircraft structure repairs, cabin modifications, systems and power installations, "as well as the development of a significant list of class III components, which include interior elements and common household-type equipment," the company said.

Aeroflot's subsidiary Aeroflot Technics, an aircraft maintenance and repair provider, received the same certificate last year.

The report notes that prior to the introduction of Western sanctions last year "to address non-standard issues," Russian airlines would send a request to the aircraft manufacturer or other Western organizations with design certificates in foreign jurisdictions that developed repair or modification plans.

"Now the solution of a significant part of these issues is possible with the help of Aeroflot specialists, who work in close cooperation with maintenance organizations, other development companies, research enterprises, as well as with the aviation authorities of the Russian Federation," the company said.
