Russia registers 12,496 new cases of Covid-19, 40 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. March 9 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 12,496 new cases of Covid-19 and 40 related deaths over the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

Russia "has recorded 12,496 new cases of Covid-19 and 657 patients have been hospitalized over the day, down 59.8% from the day before," the headquarters said.

According to the headquarters, the number of hospitalizations increased in ten Russian constituent territories, declined in 71, and remained unchanged in four.

The daily morbidity has grown by 176 cases from 12,320 recorded on Wednesday.

Forty patients died from Covid-19 over the past day, versus 45 the day before.

"Another 12,536 patients have recovered in the past 24 hours, down 23.7% from March 8," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 22,388,556 cases of Covid-19, including 396,463 deaths and 21,729,768 recoveries.
