Retailer Metro replaces CEO in Russia

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - Johannes Tholey has been appointed to replace Martin Schumacher as CEO of Metro in Russia, the retailer said.

Tholey joined Metro in October 2022 in the position of deputy CEO. Before joining Metro, he headed Auchan in Russia, and in 2018-2019 he served as commercial director at X5 Retail Group.

In his new position, Tholey will focus on developing e-commerce, a program to support B2B partners and other issues related to the retailer's current strategy.

The company did not say what Schumacher plans to do going forward.

Metro has 93 stores in 51 Russian regions. Sales totaled 2.9 billion euros in the 2021/2022 financial year.
