FESCO launches intermodal service from Vitebsk to Shanghai via VMTP

VLADIVOSTOK. March 1 (Interfax) - FESCO Transportation Group, whose parent company is PJSC Far East Shipping Company , has launched a new intermodal container service along the Vitebsk-Vladivostok-Shanghai route, the company said in a statement.

The service includes railway delivery from Vitebsk, Belarus, to PJSC Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP) - which is the main stevedoring company at the port of Vladivostok and is part of the FESCO group - with subsequent reloading at the port and further shipping by the FESCO maritime line to Shanghai.

The transit period lasts 30 days, with shipments twice per month and prospects of increasing the frequency of shipments.

The first train departed from Vitebsk on 14 February with 62 forty-foot FESCO containers.

This is FESCO's second service from Belarus, with the group having previously launched railway shipments from Minsk to Vladivostok.
