Lithuania gives Ukraine autotransformer able to supply power to 200,000 households

MOSCOW. March 1 (Interfax) - Ukraine has received a high-capacity power autotransformer, installed at a high-voltage substation of the electricity transmission system, from Lithuania as part of cooperation and assistance in restoring Ukraine's energy system.

"It transforms power from the grid to the distribution system and can provide up to 200,000 households with electricity," Ukrainian media said on Wednesday, citing the Energy Ministry.

"We are grateful to Lithuanian friends for this considerable assistance. Such equipment is extremely important for restoring power infrastructure facilities and for ensuring uninterrupted power supplies to Ukrainian consumers," media outlets quoted Energy Minister German Galushchenko as saying.

Transporting this autotransformer to Ukraine became the largest logistical operation ever coordinated by the European Union's Civil Protection Mechanism, the ministry said.
