Ukraine quits several agreements with Russia, Belarus on development, joint control of border checkpoints

MOSCOW. March 1 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government has terminated a number of agreements with Russia and Belarus on the development and joint control of border checkpoints.

The government made the decision at a meeting on Tuesday, the Ukrainian media said with the reference to a statement made by Government Representative to the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnichuk on a social network.

For instance, the Ukrainian-Russian intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the development of checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Russian state border, signed in Donetsk on October 18, 2011, has been terminated.

The Ukrainian-Belarusian intergovernmental agreement on joint control at checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Belarusian state border, signed in Kiev on December 14, 1995, is also terminated.

In addition, Ukraine has withdrawn from the agreement on preferential supplies of specialized hardware and other materials to the border forces of Commonwealth of Independent States members, signed in Moscow on September 9, 1994.
