Taiwan plans to provide $56 mln to help restore civilian infrastructure in Ukraine

MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - The Foreign Ministry of Taiwan has earmarked approximately $56 million in its 2023 budget for civil infrastructure projects in Ukraine, the Caribbean News Global media outlet said on Monday.

Taiwan plans to help rebuild hospitals, schools, churches, power and water supply facilities, bridges, and transport links in bilateral and multilateral formats, the media outlet said, citing Taiwan's Foreign Ministry.

Since the start of the crisis, Taiwan's people and government have donated a total of 27 tonnes of medical supplies and over 700 tonnes of humanitarian aid. The relief supplies from Taiwan were promptly delivered through Poland, Slovakia and other neighboring countries to Ukrainians, it said.

In addition, Taiwan has donated more than $41 million for efforts made in coordination with neighboring countries, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Lithuania, and international organizations to jointly resettle Ukrainian refugees.
