Zelensky calls for new quality of Ukraine-Israel relations

MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has spoken in favor of strengthening relations with Israel.

"The common security challenges facing our states today, as well as the Russian-Iranian political convergence require a paradigm shift in Ukraine-Israel interaction and bringing it to a new level," Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying at a meeting with Israeli Knesset members Yuli Edelstein and Zeev Elkin on Tuesday, according to the presidential press service.

During the meeting, the parties discussed Israeli partners' support for the Peace Formula, proposed by Zelensky, and the implementation of Ukraine's recent international initiatives, Zelensky's Office said.

Attention was also given to the broadening of Israel's programs to provide humanitarian and other assistance to Ukraine, it said.

Zelensky also brought up the difficult situation around the crossing of the Israeli border by Ukrainian citizens. Possible practical ways to resolve the existing problems were discussed, the Office of the Ukrainian President said.
