NATO's Stoltenberg regrets Russia's decision to suspend participation in New START, calls for reviewing it

BRUSSELS. Feb 21 (Interfax) - NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said he regrets Russia's decision to suspend its participation in the Treaty with the United States on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (New START) and called on Moscow to review this step.

"I regret today's decision by Russia to suspend its participation in the New START treaty [...] I strongly encourage Russia to reconsider its decision and to respect existing agreements," Stoltenberg said at a press conference in Brussels on Tuesday.

With this decision on New START, "the whole arms control architecture has been dismantled," Stoltenberg said.
