Poland to restrict movement at only truck-processing checkpoint on border with Belarus

MINSK. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Poland will restrict the movement of trucks across its border with Belarus at the only checkpoint that accepts freight vehicles, the Belarusian State Border Committee said in a statement on Monday.

"The Polish border agency informed the Belarusian side that the movement of trucks, except those registered in EU members states, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), will be restricted from 9 p.m. February 21 at the Polish Kukuryki checkpoint," the statement said.

"From 9 p.m. February 21, trucks not registered in the above-listed organizations and countries will not be allowed to cross the Polish-Belarusian border. For light transport, the only remaining checkpoint is Terespol (Brest on the Belarusian side)," they added.

It was reported that on February 10 Poland closed its Bobrowniki checkpoint (Berestovitsa on Belarusian side) to Belarusian transport. After the closure of the checkpoint, which used to process both light and cargo vehicles, only two remained open: one for trucks (Kozlovichi - Kukuryki), the other for cars (Brest-Terespol).
