Armenian FM welcomes Washington's efforts to establish peace in region at meeting with U.S. ambassador

YEREVAN. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Armenia welcomes the United States' efforts as important ones in establishing a lasting peace in the region and would like to see even more profound partnership between the two countries, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said while accepting credentials from new U.S. Ambassador Kristina Kvien on Monday.

"The meeting participants discussed aspects of regional security and stability and the process of settling relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Mirzoyan highly praised the U.S.' efforts, both in the bilateral format and as an OSCE Minsk Group co-chair country, in promoting lasting peace in the region," the Armenian Foreign Ministry said.

Mirzoyan also emphasized the importance of even more profound partnership and strategic dialogue between Armenia and the U.S. in the context of promoting an agenda based on common democratic values, it said.
