Ukraine exports over 30 mln tonnes of grain since start of 2022-2023 marketing year - Agrarian Policy Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Ukraine has exported 30.32 million tonnes of grains, including 17.42 million tonnes of corn, accounting for 57.4% of total supplies, 10.81 million tonnes of wheat (35.7%) and 1.98 million tonnes of barley (6.5%) since the start of the 2022-2023 marketing year (MY, from July 2022 to June 2023) and through February 20.

As Ukrainian media reported citing the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food on Monday, the grain export rate since the start of this marketing year is 28.74% lower than during the same period of the previous marketing year, when 42.54 million tonnes were exported as of that date. The highest average daily export rate for the current marketing year was reached on February 13, when the least lagging behind the last year's figure amounted to minus 28.65%.

According to the ministry, Ukraine exported 17.42 million tonnes of corn, down 6.8% compared to the same period of the previous year, 10.81 million tonnes of wheat, down 1.65-fold, 1.98 million tonnes of barley, down 2.81-fold, 15,300 tonnes of rye, down 10.5-fold, and 92,500 tonnes of flour, up 39.7%, from the start of the 2022-2023 marketing year through February 20 of this year.

Ukraine has exported 3.35 million tonnes of grains, including 2.1 million tonnes of corn, 1.07 million tonnes of wheat, 164,000 tonnes of barley, 10,100 tonnes of flour and 3,000 tonnes of rye since early February, it said.

According to the ministry, 165,700 tonnes of grains were supplied to foreign markets on average per day between February 13 and February 20, while 170,700 tonnes per day in the previous period from February 3 to 13, 209,400 tonnes per day between January 27 and February 3, 121,100 tonnes per day from January 20 to 27, 140,000 tonnes per day from January 9 to 20, and 121,700 tonnes per day from January 2 to 9. Thus, the average daily export rate for the reporting period from February 13 to 20 dropped 2.9% compared to the figure for the previous period between February 3 and February 13.

As reported, Ukraine exported 48.51 million tonnes of grains and pulses in the 2021-2022 MY, which is 8.4% higher than in the previous marketing year. In total, 18.74 million tonnes of wheat, which is 12.6% more than in the 2020-2021 MY, 23.54 million tonnes of corn, up 1.9%, 5.75 million tonnes of barley, up 35.9%, 70,900 tonnes of flour, down 44.1%, were supplied to foreign markets.

Ukraine exported 44.72 million tonnes of grains and pulses in 2020/2021 MY: 16.64 million tonnes of wheat, 23.08 million tonnes of corn, 4.23 million tonnes of barley, 126,900 tonnes of flour and 18,400 tonnes of rye.

Ukraine exported 56.72 million tonnes of grains and pulses in the 2019-2020 MY.
