Solar power plants with total capacity of 200 MW to be built in Astrakhan Region

ASTRAKHAN. Feb 17 (Interfax) - There are plans to build new solar power plants with capacity of up to 200 MW in Astrakhan Region, the regional administration's press service reported, citing the region's industry, trade and energy minister, Ilya Volynsky.

He said Governor Igor Babushkin signed an agreement to this effect at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2022.

"Astrakhan Region is one of Russia's leaders by amount of alternative energy produced. Work has already begun on a project to build the Bogdinskaya solar power plant with capacity of 60 MW. It will be put into operation this year," Volynsky was quoted as saying in the press release.

Astrakhan Region now has 12 solar power plants with combined installed capacity of about 285 MW and wind farms with combined installed capacity of 340.2 MW in the Chernoyarsky district.
