Russia sees 14,740 new Covid-19 case, 37 related deaths in past day - HQ

MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Russia has recorded 14,740 new cases of Covid-19, the highest daily number since mid-October 2022, and 37 related deaths over the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

Russia "has registered 14,740 new cases of Covid-19 and 1,516 patients have been hospitalized over the day, down 2.1% from the day before," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations increased in 32 Russian constituent territories, declined in 44, and remained unchanged in nine, it said.

The daily morbidity has grown by 1,304 cases from 13,436 recorded on Wednesday. This is the highest daily number since October 13, 2022, when Russia saw over 15,400 new infections.

Thirty-seven coronavirus-related deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours versus 36 the day before.

"Another 11,140 patients have recovered in the past 24 hours, down 7.7% from February 15. Russia's Covid-19 caseload since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 22,121,725, including 395,689 deaths and 21,472,809 recoveries," the headquarters said.
