Ukraine opens 91 int'l markets for livestock products exports over 4 years - food safety watchdog

MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax) - The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection has opened 91 international markets for supplies of Ukrainian livestock products and agreed on a number of forms of international export certificates for these products over the past four years.

According to Ukrainian media reports citing the food safety watchdog's website on Wednesday, the diversification of international markets offers new opportunities for domestic business development, building advanced production facilities, creating jobs and drawing investment in cutting-edge technologies.

According to the regulator, Ukrainian producers of dairy products, eggs, poultry meat and honey have more opportunities to sell their products abroad, and these products can already be exported to all European Union countries.

The supplies of Ukrainian milk and dairy products were allowed to 12 countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, North Macedonia, Lebanon, Japan, Argentina, Libya, Kuwait, Turkey, Kenya and Dominica, it said.

At the same time, eggs and egg products from Ukraine, along with the EU, can be exported to 13 other countries, namely, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar, Morocco, North Macedonia, Singapore, Taiwan, UAE, Israel, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Japan, Ethiopia and Pakistan, while poultry meat can be exported to eight countries, namely, Ethiopia, Qatar, North Macedonia, Singapore, UAE, Japan, Liberia and Canada.

Additionally, Ukrainian businesses can export honey to four countries, namely, China, Serbia, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

As reported, the State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry agreed on 22 forms of international veterinary certificates for the export of livestock products to 12 countries in 2022.

Last year, the market of Albania was opened for semi-finished meat products from Ukraine, Georgia for snails, the Dominican Republic for milk and dairy products, Israel for ornamental freshwater fish, live rabbits, chewed items for pets, fresh and processed leather and skins, Canada for poultry meat and poultry products, Kenya for milk and dairy products.

In addition, the export of Ukrainian chewed items for pets, raw and canned pet food to North Macedonia, pet food to Singapore, hatching eggs, canned and processed pet food to Serbia, processed animal protein products (not for human consumption) and fish products to Turkey, table eggs to Pakistan, and meat products and semi-finished products to Montenegro are permitted.
