Swiss Federal Office of Justice finds confiscation of Russian private assets unlawful

BERLIN. Feb 15 (Interfax) - The Swiss Federal Office of Justice resolved on Wednesday that a possible confiscation of Russian private assets kept at Swiss banks and their utilization for Ukraine's recovery would be unlawful.

"The working group [...] led by the Federal Office of Justice, concluded [...] that confiscation of frozen [Russian] private assets is inconsistent with the federal constitution and the prevailing legal order," the office said in a statement published on its website.

At the same time, regardless of discussions on the matter, Switzerland will continue supporting Ukraine, it said.
