Russia, Brazil interested in energy cooperation - Russian ambassador

MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax) - Moscow and Brasilia are continuing the successful development of political and economic dialogue despite the external attempts at creating problems on this track, Russian Ambassador to Brazil Alexei Labetsky said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper on Monday.

"Rest assured that the bilateral political, economic and investment dialogue [between Russia and Brazil] is successfully developing irrespective of any attempts at creating additional difficulties on this track. It is crucial that we keep working together on the international arena. For instance, our interaction is active in BRICS," Labetsky said.

"According to tentative statistical data from Brazil, our trade neared $10 billion last year," he said, adding, "that is a high figure."

"We are conducting a long-term policy, primarily, in trade. [...] We also share an interest in developing energy and investment cooperation, along with elaborating new payment and investment systems amid current realities on the global financial market," Labetsky said.
