Russia willing to discuss any of Israel's concerns regarding Iran - ambassador

MOSCOW. Feb 10 (Interfax) - Cooperation between Moscow and Tehran is not directed against third countries, including Israel, Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov said.

"We understand that Iran has always been and is a very sensitive subject for Israel. We'd like to emphasize that comprehensive solutions to any regional problems must take into account Israel's legitimate security interests. We've spoken about this repeatedly and at all levels," Viktorov said in an interview with Interfax on Diplomatic Workers' Day, observed by the Russian diplomatic community on February 10.

"Any of the Israeli side's concerns are communicated to us via diplomatic channels, and we are willing to discuss them," he said.

"We always remain open to work on regional security and stability, including as regards some aspects related to activities of other regional actors causing Israel's concerns," Viktorov said.

"Russia favors a balanced agenda on the Middle East in the interests of peace and stability, and Russia and Iran pursue their cooperation in full conformity with international law, which does not breach any of the UN Security Council's resolutions and have never been and will not be directed against third countries, including Israel," he said.

Russia "has also openly told its Israeli partners of its conviction that there is no reasonable alternative to the reinstatement of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran," Viktorov said.

"Russia has always openly voiced its support for important negotiations on the JCPOA's reinstatement and condemns any attempts to disrupt them," he said.
