Russia ready to implement IAEA head's initiative on providing physical, nuclear safety around Zaporozhye NPP - Rosatom

MOSCOW. Feb 9 (Interfax) - Rosatom said Russia stands ready to implement International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi's initiative to provide physical and nuclear safety around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.

"For his part, Rafael Grossi spoke of promoting his initiative to establish a nuclear and physical nuclear safety protection zone at the Zaporozhye NPP. In this regard, Alexei Likhachev expressed the Russian side's readiness to continue working on this initiative of the IAEA director general," Rosatom's Strana Rosatom corporate newspaper said on its Telegram channel following talks between Rosatom Director General Likhachev and Grossi.

According to Rosatom, the parties discussed the current and future cooperation between Russia and the IAEA in other areas at the meeting "The parties reaffirmed an agreement to continue contacts," the state corporation said.

As previously reported, Likhachev was holding talks with Grossi in Moscow, in particular, on the topic of establishing a safety zone around the Zaporozhye NPP.
