Ukrainian govt sets immigration quotas for 2023

MOSCOW. Feb 9 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government has set an immigration quota for 2023 at 9,203 people.

Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the government's directive of February 7 that an immigration quota for relatives of Ukrainian citizens (full brothers and sisters, grandparents and grandmothers, grandsons and granddaughters) is set at 845 people, that for people who earlier had Ukrainian citizenship at 396 people, for parents, spouses, and underage children at 2,055 people, and for science and culture figures whose immigration meets Ukraine's interests at 850 people.

The directive also sets an unlimited immigration quota for individuals who have invested an equivalent of at least $100,000 in convertible foreign currency in the Ukrainian economy.

Another 5,000 highly qualified specialists or workers can also immigrate to Ukraine in 2023 provided that their qualifications are of special value for the Ukrainian economy.

An immigration quota of 57 people has been set for individuals who have served three years or more with the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

No quota has been set for people who have lived in Ukraine uninterruptedly for three years after being granted status as victims of human trafficking.

As reported earlier, Ukraine's immigration quota was 9,818 people in 2021 and 8,488 people in 2022.
