Fire at Turkish port of Iskenderun not affecting Delo Group operations

MOSCOW. Feb 7 (Interfax) - The Delo Group of Companies is working with Turkish container terminals that were not affected by the earthquake, the Group's press service said.

"The Group is working with container terminals that did not fall in the earthquake zone," the service said.

The blaze in the Turkish port of Iskenderun, where containers caught fire after the earthquake, is continuing for a second day. A Coast Guard vessel is involved in the firefighting. The fire is believed to have started after the containers toppled over during an earthquake.

According to the Danish transport and logistics company A.P. Moeller-Maersk A/S, the earthquake caused serious structural damage to the port of Iskenderun, which led to a complete halt to all operations. Maersk plans to reroute its containers to nearby hub ports, including Mersin in Turkey and Port Said, Egypt. "It is not yet clear when the port of Iskenderun will return to normal operation," the company said in a statement.
