Beijing acts with maximum responsibility regarding Chinese balloon incident in United States - Russian Deputy FM Ryabkov

MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Moscow has no doubt about Beijing's responsible policy in settling the Chinese balloon incident, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Monday.

"I am sure that our Chinese colleagues pursue a policy with maximum responsibility and, as we can see from many other issues, they are always inclined to have dialogue and exchange views. As to how the United States will behave, this is an open question. Let us wait and see," Ryabkov told reporters in Moscow.

U.S. President Joe Biden said on Saturday that a Chinese balloon flying for several days across the U.S. from the northwest to the northeast was successfully intercepted near the U.S. Atlantic coast.

U.S. F-22 fifth-generation fighter jets scrambled from the Langley airbase in Virginia shot down the balloon.

The Chinese balloon was spotted on January 28, the Pentagon said, It flew over Alaska and western Canada before reentering the U.S. airspace in the northwest.

Beijing protested to Washington against downing of the Chinese balloon over the U.S. territory.
