Paris allots funds to Kiev for finalizing construction of pedestrian bridge

MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) - The Greater Paris Metropolis has allotted about UAH 20 million to Kiev to finalize the construction of a pedestrian bridge to the Obolonsky Island, the Ukrainian media said with the reference to the press service for the Obolonsky District Administration.

"According to the information possessed by the Obolonsky District State Administration, the Greater Paris Metropolis has allotted UAH 19,496,412 as sponsor assistance to continue the construction of a pedestrian bridge between the Obolonskaya Embankment and the Obolonsky Island, which has off-budget financing," administration first deputy head Alexander Tsybulshchak said.

An amendment to the Kiev economic and social development program and the city budget will be discussed at the next session of the Kiev Council in regard to this work, he said.

The pedestrian bridge to the Obolonsky Island has been under construction since 2020 with donations from philanthropists. According to the project, the bridge will have four supports, including two in the strait. The bridge will be four meters wide and 164 meters long.

Three supports were installed and materials were purchased as of the beginning of 2023. The money allotted by the Greater Paris Metropolis will help install the fourth support, buy and install auxiliary and, partially, purlin structures, and buy metal structures.
