Ukraine exports over 27 million tonnes of grain since beginning of 2022-2023 marketing year - ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 3 (Interfax) - Ukraine exported 27.46 million tonnes of grains, including 15.68 million tonnes of corn (57.1% of total exports), 9.84 million tonnes of wheat (35.8%), and 1.83 million tonnes of barley (6.7%), in the period from the beginning of the 2022-2023 marketing year, which started in July 2022, to February 3.

Ukrainian media outlets reported on Friday citing the website of the Ministry of the Agrarian Policy and Food that the pace of grain exports since the beginning of this marketing year is 29.8% lower than in the same period of the previous marketing year, when 39.12 million tonnes were sent abroad.

According to the ministry, between the start of the 2022-2023 marketing year and February 3, 2023, Ukraine exported 15.68 million tonnes of corn (2.1% lower than in the same period of the previous marketing year), 9.84 million tonnes of wheat (1.75 times lower), 1.83 million tonnes of barley (three times lower), 12,800 tonnes of rye (12.3 times lower), and 85,000 tonnes of flour (up by 33%).

Ukraine exported 483,000 tonnes of grains, including 362,000 tonnes of corn, 107,000 tonnes of wheat, 9,000 tonnes of barley, and 1,900 tonnes of flour, since the start of February, it said.

According to the ministry, in the period from January 27 to February 3, Ukraine was exporting 209,400 tonnes of grain on average per day to external markets, whereas this figure was 121,100 tonnes per day in the week before, January 20-27, 140,000 tonnes per day on January 9-20, 121,700 tonnes per day on January 2-9, and 196,400 tonnes per day on December 21-January 2.

As reported, Ukraine exported 48.51 million tonnes of grains and legumes in the 2021-2022 marketing year, which is 8.4% higher than the figures recorded in the previous marketing year. The country supplied 18.74 million tonnes of wheat (up by 12.6% from the 2020-2021 marketing year), 23.54 million tonnes of corn (up by 1.9%), 5.75 million tonnes of barley (up by 35.9%), and 70,900 tonnes of flour (down by 44.1%) to external markets.

In the 2020-2021 marketing year, Ukraine exported 44.72 million tonnes of grains and legumes, including 16.64 million tonnes of wheat, 23.08 million tonnes of corn, 4.23 million tonnes of barley, 126,900 tonnes of flour, and 18,400 tonnes of rye.

Ukraine exported 56.72 million tonnes of grains and legumes in the 2019-2020 marketing year.
