Russian govt forming commission to support mining, production, distribution of precious metals, stones

MOSCOW. Feb 3 (Interfax) - The Russian government is forming a government commission in order to develop and implement state support measures in the mining, production and distribution of precious metals and precious stones, and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed the corresponding resolution.

The commission's main tasks will be to develop the main areas for improving government support for industrial enterprises and increasing their sustainability; to assess the feasibility of changing the size of Russia's gold reserves; and to prepare proposals for developing strategic planning documents in the area of mining and producing precious metals and stones. The commission will also develop measures to counteract the negative consequences of external sanctions pressure in this area.

The deputy prime minister and head of the government apparatus will chair the commission.
