Naftogaz of Ukraine secures extra grant aid from EBRD

MOSCOW. Feb 2 (Interfax) - Naftogaz of Ukraine has secured an additional 200 million euros in grants from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Naftogaz CEO Alexei Chernyshov said.

"The respective agreement was signed with the EBRD as a result of the thorough work done by the teams of Naftogaz and the bank. This result is also an indicator of the significant support of Ukraine by the Norwegian government, which provided the aforementioned irretrievable grant financing through the EBRD," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Chernyshov as saying in a social media post.

As reported, Chernyshov said a meeting of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada's relevant committee on Tuesday that Naftogaz had already signed contracts on the import of 1.1 billion cubic meters of gas since December 2022.

"A certain amount of gas will be delivered, which, given the current weather conditions, will be sufficient to conclude the fall-winter period," the company's press service quoted Chernyshov as saying.
