Capacity shortage in Ukraine's electricity system declining because of commissioning a number of TPP units after repairs

MOSCOW. Feb 1 (Interfax) - Electricity consumption in Ukraine on Wednesday remains at Tuesday's level, and limits on energy consumption are in effect in all regions throughout the day, Ukrainian media reported, citing a Ukrenergo statement on social media.

Ukraine's Energy Ministry in turn notes that the situation on Wednesday with supplying electricity to consumers has improved somewhat compared to January 31. The capacity deficit on Tuesday evening was 25% during maximum energy consumption, though it is expected to decrease to 21% on Wednesday.

The decrease in capacity shortage in the electricity system is associated with completing repairs at some thermal power generation units, Ukrenergo said.

The largest share of disconnected consumers is in the Sumy, Volyn, Ternopol, and Kirovograd regions, respectively, owing to the shortage in generating capacity.

According to the network operators, Ukrenergo on Wednesday has increased daytime limits on energy consumption by nearly 4%, and has reduced nighttime limits by nearly the same amount.
