Exports of grain, soybeans to Asia-Pacific region from Primorye rise 1.5-fold in January - watchdog

VLADIVOSTOK. Jan 31 (Interfax) - Exports of grain and its products to the countries of the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) from Primorye totaled 80,729 tonnes in January 2023, a surge of 46% year-on-year, the Primorye interregional department of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) said in a statement.

Primorye exported 66,825 tonnes of grain and soybeans to China through coastal phytosanitary posts, which was a 2.1-fold year-on-year increase against January 2022, and was 83% of total export supplies. Supplies of corn surged 5-fold year-on-year to 35,797 tonnes.

Japan received 8,900 tonnes of corn. South Korea received over 5,000 tonnes of wheat and corn, a small consignment of soybeans, as well as 50 tonnes of soybean cake.

The Rosselkhoznadzor department issued 586 phytosanitary certificates for export consignments in January.
