Ukraine's Energy Ministry gives Chernigov region power distributor equipment provided by donors

MOSCOW. Jan 31 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Energy Ministry on January 30 handed over seven tonnes of power equipment to Chernigovoblenergo, a regional power distribution company, to help restore power supplies to residents of border regions, Ukrainian media said, citing the ministry's website.

The aforementioned assistance has been provided by Italy, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, and Sweden. It includes generators, power transformers and materials needed for repairs.

According to Chernigovoblenergo technical director Sergei Felik, more than 900 power distribution facilities in the region had been damaged in February-April 2022. Some of them, including transformers of various capacity, could not be repaired.

It is impossible to rebuild destroyed and damaged Chernigovoblenergo facilities without support from other states and international partners, Felik said.
