TechnoNicol to invest 358 mln rubles in stone wool production in Khabarovsk

KHABAROVSK. Jan 30 (Interfax) - TechnoNicol, a Russian building materials manufacturer, will invest 358 million rubles in the development of stone wool production in Khabarovsk and the company's TechnoNicol Far East plant will start making products for export to South Korea and Japan in 2023, TechnoNicol's Mineral Insulation division said.

The plant intends to set up production of insulation based on biopolymer bonding agent in 2023.

"By our estimates, such products will be interesting to consumers in South Korea and Japan who pay particular attention to environmental issues, and will increase our competitiveness on these markets. We successfully carried out trial production of such material at the end of last year. We are now waiting for the delivery of the main equipment for this line and intend to install it and set it up in the first half of 2023 and then start working," TechnoNicol Far East director Nikita Yakovlev was quoted as saying in the press release.

The plant in Khabarovsk also plans to start making thermal and sound insulation in 2023 from stone wool using GEOlife technology, which uses natural raw materials (volcanic rock) and an organic biopolymer bonding agent.

The plant will also modernize its rock melting system and install an automatic loading system at its finished product warehouse in 2023.

Investment in the TechnoNicol Far East plant totaled 160 million rubles in 2022.

"The plant completed a number of projects to update core equipment. For example, the fiberization chambers were modernized and rock melting furnaces were repaired. This made it possible to improve the quality of the finished product," the company said.

The plant produced 786,000 cubic meters of stone wool insulation for private, industrial and civilian construction in 2023, as well as industrial insulation, and materials for fire protection and shipbuilding. The plant makes more than 200 types of products that are shipped to 12 regions of Russia.
