Emergency power outages to continue in Odessa region till end of Jan - DTEK
MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax) - The power supply situation remains extremely difficult due to the damage done to the Ukrainian energy infrastructure last Thursday, so emergency power outages will continue at least till the end of January, the DTEK energy holding said in a statement.
"The energy infrastructure of the Odessa region has sustained significant damage, which is why emergency power outages are taking place in the region. Regretfully, the damage is very extensive, so the repairs will be continuing at least until the end of January," the Ukrainian media quoted DTEK as saying on a social network on Friday evening.
"The power supply situation is less difficult in the Izmailsky, Bolgradsky, Belgorod-Dnestrovsky, Razdelnyansky, Berezovsky and Podolsky districts, which makes it possible to supply electricity approximately four hours a day," DTEK said.
DTEK Executive Director Dmitry Sakharuk said earlier consumers in the Odessa region could not be connected to reserve schemes because of heavy damage to the infrastructure and the need to replace disabled equipment. In his words, that would take several days.
