Canadian Red Cross to provide extra $25 mln to support Ukraine

MOSCOW. Jan 27 (Interfax) - The Canadian Red Cross will provide an additional $25 million to support the Ukrainian government's Shelter program, Ukraine's Ambassador to Canada Yulia Kovaliv said.

"The Canadian Red Cross will transfer an extra $25 million to support the government's Shelter program, which has allowed thousands of Ukrainians hosting internally displaced persons in their homes to receive financial assistance," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Kovaliv as saying in a social media post.

Since the Shelter program was launched in July 2022, the Canadian Red Cross has contributed $10 million to the project and is now considerably increasing the amount of its support, the ambassador said.

"We are grateful to the Canadians and Canadian businesses who have joined this charity project, as well as to the large team of the Canadian Red Cross and its head Conrad Sauve for the fruitful cooperation in a large number of projects," she said.
