Donor platform for Ukraine's reconstruction begins work - European Commission

BRUSSELS. Jan 26 (Interfax) - The European Commission on Thursday announced the launch of its multi-agency Donor Coordination Platform to support the process of rebuilding Ukraine.

"It will allow for close coordination among international donors and international financial organizations and will ensure that support [to Ukraine] is provided in a coherent, transparent, and accountable manner," a Brussels statement said.

The entity's first meeting, held by videoconference, brought together high-ranking representatives from Ukraine, the European Union, the Group of Seven nations, and financial institutions such as the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, the document said.

"Other donors will be able to join the Platform over time," it said.

By now, EU states and European financial institutions have given Ukraine up to 49 billion euros in the form of financial, budget, emergency, humanitarian and military assistance.
