Netherlands to give 25 mln euros in guarantees for EBRD to Ukraine's agriculture sector

MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Dutch government will provide a 25-million-euros in financial guarantees to support agriculture, food processing, logistics, and agricultural export businesses.

The Dutch contribution to the EBRD will help Ukraine maintain food security and raise funding from the bank, Ukrainian media reported citing the EBRD statement.

Dutch Finance Ministry's Deputy Director for Foreign Financial Relations Robin Uyterlinde and EBRD Managing Director for Impact and Partnerships Ines Rocha signed the agreement in London on January 26.

The Netherlands, as one of the EBRD's founding countries, is a major bank donor in Ukraine, the statement said. Last year, it provided a 70-million-euro grant to support an EBRD loan to Ukraine's Ukrenergo energy company for urgent infrastructure repairs.

"Donor funding is a critical element of EBRD support for Ukraine. Besides the Netherlands, donors that have committed to contribute so far are: Austria, Canada, Denmark, the European Union, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Norway, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taipei China, the United Kingdom and the United States of America," the bank said in the statement.
