Medusa declared undesirable organization in Russia - Prosecutor General's Office

MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has declared the activity of Medusa Project (designated as a foreign agent) undesirable in Russia.

"It has been decided to declare the activity of a foreign non-governmental organization, Limited Liability Company (SIA) Medusa Project, registered in the Latvian Republic, undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation," the Office said.

According to it, the activity of Medusa "constitutes a threat to fundamentals of the constitutional system and the security of the Russian Federation."

The Prosecutor General's Office said the decision had been relayed to the Russian Justice Ministry "to add the information to the list of foreign and international non-governmental organizations the activity of which is declared undesirable on the territory of the Russian information and publish it."

The Russian Justice Ministry added Medusa Project to the register of foreign-agent media outlets on April 23, 2021. According to the register, Medusa is a legal entity registered in the Latvian Republic in 2014 as SIA Medusa Project.

The Moscow City Court dismissed the media outlet's appeal against designation as a foreign agent in October 2021.
