New U.S. Ambassador Lynne Tracy arrives in Moscow - U.S. embassy

MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - New U.S. Ambassador to Russia Lynne Tracy has arrived in Moscow, the U.S. embassy said on social media, also publishing a photo of the ambassador at a Moscow airport.

"Welcome back to Russia, Ambassador Tracy," the embassy said.

It was reported on December 21, 2022, that the U.S. Senate had confirmed Tracy as the new U.S. ambassador to Russia.

Tracy thus became the first female U.S. ambassador to Russia.

Tracy speaks Russian, she served as a minister counsellor of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow in 2014-2017. She also served as the U.S. ambassador to Armenia since 2019.

Former U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan ended his mission on September 4 and left Moscow. He was appointed U.S. ambassador to Russia in December 2019.
