Web services malfunction was caused by foreign CDN failure - Roskomnadzor
MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax) - A foreign content delivery network (CDN) malfunction is what caused the inaccessibility to Russian users of some foreign services, including Apple, Russia's telecoms watchdog Roskomnadzor told Interfax.
"According to the Public Communication Network Monitoring and Management Center, some foreign Internet services were inaccessible due to a temporary foreign CDN malfunction," Roskomnadzor said in response to the agency's inquiry on Wednesday.
"The work of the CDN is now stable," Roskomnadzor said.
Earlier on Wednesday, there were reports that users of most mobile operators had no access to Apple's App Store. According to earlier reports, the Stream service was also not available, either. It was later reported that there were problems with Microsoft's services, namely Azure. The company provided the relevant information on its website.
Content delivery networks are a key part of the Internet infrastructure. These companies use global server networks to increase the productivity and accessibility of Web services.
