Transport Ministry expects Russian airlines to boost passenger traffic 6% in 2023

MOSCOW. Jan 24 (Interfax) - Russian airlines should carry more than 101 million passengers in 2023, Transportation Minister Vitaly Savelyev said at a meeting on developing domestic tourism with President Vladimir Putin.

"In 2023, we plan to transport more than 101 million passengers. The corresponding plans have been communicated to the airlines. I note that the total volume of traffic could be adjusted slightly when accounting for an extended closure of the 11 airports in southern Russia," the transportation minister said.

Savelyev said that airline passenger traffic exceeded 95 million travelers in 2022. As such, the ministry expects the indicator to grow 6% this year.

Passenger traffic in 2021 exceeded 111 million people.
