Head of Zelensky's Office and partners discuss power equipment deliveries to Ukraine

MOSCOW. Jan 24 (Interfax) - Head of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's Office Andrei Yermak on Monday held a meeting by videoconference with representatives of partner countries regarding the need to expedite deliveries of equipment that is key to repairing Ukrainian power infrastructure.

The meeting was attended by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt and representatives of the G7 countries, the European Union and its institutions, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program, and the United States Agency for International Development, Ukrainian media said, citing the presidential press service.

"Speed is very important to us. This is the key point," Yermak said.

He thanked Pyatt for establishing coordination and ongoing dialogue between Ukraine's partners, who are ready to help or have already helped repair power infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.

The parties also touched upon the possibility of producing some of the required power equipment in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Sweden's Svenska Kraftnat has received the Swedish government's approval for the transfer of materials to help repair Ukraine's energy system, Ukrainian media said, citing the Swedish government's press service.

"Svenska Kraftnat has identified materials that it can transfer to Ukraine and that will be beneficial for the energy system of this country. Today the government has decided that the material can be transferred," it said.

Sweden has several energy sector players who are considering the possibility of transferring to Ukraine materials that were previously thrown away when replacing equipment, but now could be useful for the restoration of Ukraine's energy system, it said.
