Ukraine receives another batch of power equipment from foreign partners

MOSCOW. Jan 24 (Interfax) - Ukraine has received another batch of power equipment from a number of foreign countries and will use it to restore one of damaged thermal power plants, Energy Minister German Galushchenko said.

"Today, we received another batch of assistance from partners. In particular, it is large equipment of different types that will help repair one of energy facilities. We are hosting today colleagues from Poland, Lithuania, Austria, the Netherlands, Azerbaijan, and South Korea who have handed over this equipment," Ukrainian media quoted Galushchenko as saying at an equipment presentation, which was also attended by the ambassadors of the aforementioned countries.

The latest cargo includes backup power stations of different capacity, current transformers, voltage suppressors, high voltage equipment control cabinets, and combined transformers, the ministry said.

It was reported earlier, citing Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, that nine generating units of thermal power plants, three main substations and an overhead power line were damaged on January 14.
