Nokia to provide Ukraine with another 3,000 routers for schools - digital transformation minister

MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax) - Nokia, Finnish manufacturer of telecom equipment, will increase the number of routers provided to Ukrainian schools to 5,000, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, Digital Transformation Minister Mikhail Fedorov said after meeting with Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark in Davos.

"We have received 1,770 routers, which provide schools with Internet service, from Nokia since February 24. The second batch, another 3,230 routers, will be supplied shortly," the Ukrainian media quoted Fedorov as saying on a social network on Friday.

The construction of a trunk Internet line across the Black Sea is one of the future projects, he said.

"That will make Ukraine more attractive to top technological companies," Fedorov said.

In his words, Lundmark has proposed setting up a local expert group for consulting on reconstruction, higher resilience and renovation of the Ukrainian digital infrastructure.
