Thirty energy companies request 107-mln-euro equipment via Ukraine Energy Support Fund - Energy Ministry

MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Energy Ministry's working group for humanitarian assistance in the energy sector has approved requests filed by 30 energy companies within the framework of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund for the procurement of energy equipment with an approximate value exceeding 107 million euros.

Deputy Energy Minister for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization Farid Safarov made a respective statement at a conference of potential suppliers of energy equipment for urgent repairs of the Ukrainian power grid last Friday, the Ukrainian media said with the reference to the Energy Ministry's website.

"The Energy Ministry is closely interacting with international partners on drawing maximum assistance to the Ukrainian energy sector. The Ukraine Energy Support Fund, established at the Energy Community Secretariat, is one of such mechanisms," Safarov said.

He urged Ukrainian companies to be more active in procurement procedures, thus supporting the energy sector and the Ukrainian economy as a whole.

As reported earlier, the Energy Community Secretariat established the Ukraine Energy Support Fund at the European Commission's initiative to accommodate the needs of energy enterprises that had sustained substantial damage. The Fund enables governments, international financial institutions, international organizations, and private donors to give urgent financial assistance to the Ukrainian energy sector.

Contributions to the Fund are spent on the urgent needs of Ukrainian energy companies, such as equipment, spares, materials and fuel for repairs of the energy infrastructure and the provision of power supply in Ukraine.

The Energy Community Secretariat, an international public law institution acting as the Fund's fiduciary, operates the Fund. The procurements are conducted by USAID.
