University of California professor becomes NBU governor's pro bono advisor

MOSCOW. Jan 20 (Interfax) - National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Governor Andrei Pyshny said on Thursday that Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley Yury Gorodnichenko had been appointed his pro bono adviser.

"Yury Gorodnichenko has joined our work as a pro bono advisor to the NBU governor. [...] Yury is a leading world-class macroeconomist, an expert whose opinion means a great deal in the world of economics and finance. His studies focus mostly on monetary policy, economic growth, price formation, and the business circle," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Pyshny as saying in a social media post.

Gorodnichenko is a faculty research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a member of the International Academic Council of the Kiev School of Economics.

Gorodnichenko is also a member of the editorial board of the Visnyk of National Bank of Ukraine journal and chairs the Academic Committee, which has been organizing the NBU's Annual Research Conferences since 2016.
