IAEA deploys mission to Chernobyl NPP - Director Grossi

PARIS. Jan 18 (Interfax) - Experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have started working at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said on Wednesday.

"The IAEA continues to expand its presence in Ukraine. Today, I launched the IAEA support and assistance mission in Chernobyl," Grossi wrote on social media.

IAEA experts will be present at Ukrainian nuclear power plants "to provide vital nuclear safety and security assistance in these extremely difficult and challenging times," he said.

IEAE said earlier that Grossi would visit several nuclear power plants in Ukraine this week. Grossi said on January 17 that an IAEA expert mission has started working at the South Ukraine NPP. "Soon IAEA will be permanently present at all Ukrainian NPPs," he said.
