Hevel to begin construction of 20 MW solar power plant in south of Amur Region in autumn

BLAGOVESCHENSK. Jan 18 (Interfax) - Construction of a solar power plant (SPP) with a capacity of more than 20 MW will begin in September in the south of the Amur Region near Blagoveshchensk, according to a statement on the regional investment website.

The SPP near the villages of Volkovo and Rovnoe will take up a territory of more than 60 hectares. Its capacity of more than 20 MW, according to the authorities, will give impetus to the development and creation of new projects near the Blagoveshchensk-Heihe international bridge on the Russian-Chinese border.

"The region already has a small solar power plant at the Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP in operation at the moment. We hope that the largest solar generation site in the Amur Region will become a stimulus for planned international logistics projects, semi knocked down assembly of agricultural machinery and export-import cooperation projects," Olga Temchenko, director of the Amur Region's investment agency, said in a statement.

The agency's press service told Interfax that the investor for SPP construction in the Blagoveshchensky District will be Hevel Regional Generation. The company has already begun developing a capacity output scheme.

In 2021, the company successfully underwent selection of renewable energy projects for inclusion in the scheme and program for the development of the Amur Region's electricity sector. This allowed the investor to obtain the right to implement solar power generation projects in the Amur Region with a total capacity of up to 27.6 MW.

This is not the first Hevel project in the region.

As reported, Russia's first mobile floating SPP was installed in the summer of 2020 in the reservoir of the Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP in the Amur region. The installation is a pontoon module with 140 photovoltaic cells manufactured by Hevel with a total area of 475 square meters. The plant is designed to supply power for the needs of the Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP.

Hevel is the largest energy company in Russia working in the field of solar energy.
