Ukrainian interior minister and first deputy killed in helicopter crash - media

MOSCOW. Jan 18 (Interfax) - A helicopter crash in Brovary, Kiev region, killed 16 people, including Ukrainian Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky, First Deputy Interior Minister Yevgeny Yenin and State Secretary Yury Lubkovich, on Wednesday morning, the Ukrainian media said with a reference to Ukrainian National Police chief Igor Klimenko.

"A helicopter of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine crashed in Brovary this morning, on January 18. The crash killed the heads of the Interior Ministry. In all, there is information about 16 fatalities, including two children. Nine of them were onboard the helicopter," the Ukrainian media quoted Klimenko as saying on a social network on Wednesday.

"The air crash killed the administration of the Interior Ministry: the minister, the first deputy minister and the state secretary," Klimenko said.

Twenty-two injured people, including ten children, are in hospital, he said.

Respective specialized services are at work on the crash scene.
